Well, now that it’s been too long to keep blaming everything on George W., we’ll just have to blame everything on BP.

And anyway isn’t she confusing BP and the Gulf with Union Carbide and Bhopal? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhopal_disaster BP was bad, but it was nothing compared with what UC did. And nothing was, by a strange coincidence, a bit too close to what UC has done to compensate its victims.

    @Parker and Hart -

AFAIK, the BP disaster has been directly responsible for eleven human deaths. It messed up the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands and ruined summer for millions, not to mention all the environmental damage, but let’s keep our numbers straight…

I wonder if, in accordance with long-standing business tradition, when most of the smoke has cleared, BP will change it’s name and logo, but not its procedures?

What’s funny is that, while LA., Al. & Fla. continue to face unspeakable horrors on a daily basis, people from a distance are ‘bored’ by the subject. For a reality check, go to labucketbrigade.org - reports.

WAY TO GO WIZARD OF ID! Always a hero!

Sometimes humor is our only vehicle by which we can face such realities.

so how long did it take for you conservatives to quit blaming everything on Clinton? for all those who seem to want to blame everything on Obama it is worth noting once in a while that things were not exactly rosy when he took office. of course you all would also like to forget about BP, makes it harder to pretend that government actually does have a place in regulating business.

@olmail: You liberals will never get it right. We conservatives blame “W” just as much as Clinton for the economic mess which Obama is making far worse. I quit the GOP 7 years ago and vote strictly by person, not party. The Beck rally was about American fundamentals which drew 300,000 + at individual expense. The Sharpton hate rally drew about 3000 bussed in by the NEA at taxpayer expense.

Government regulation (meddling) is what caused the BP spill in the first place.

These “bash BP” jokes are getting stale. After all, the well’s been capped, there is no sign of the oil in the water anymore, the marshes are showing signs of recovery already and all the tests I’ve heard about have shown very promising results that the Golf coast is going to recover much faster than anyone thought possible. Please, give us a break!!!

I’m not sure how many people actually blame Clinton “for everything” as olmail charges. I just want his apologists to stop crediting him for the brief budget “surplus” for which he does not deserve credit. He took office during an already rising economy (though still a little low at the time–giving him an excuse to renege on his middle class tax cut pledge) which continued to rise through most of his administration. NOTE: the news media celebrated the milestone when the rising economy became the longest continuous period of economic growth in history, but failed to mention that the start of the period they were celebrating was during the Reagan years. Then, if you are going to credit or blame any president for the economy, you really need to mention that the economy had already started its downturn before Clinton left office. The truth is that the current president at any point has very little control over the economy, but I am really sick and tired of Clinton being applauded for an economy that was already growing when he started in office and already starting to head in the other direction before he left office! Those are verifiable facts. (For the record, I am an Independent. I vote based on issues, not on parties.)

    “Power Flower” lyrics:

Pan is my name I live outside the door I have to keep the score of things around you

Fire and air, water I prepare I am the piper at the gates of dawning

It’s not magic it’s not madness Just the elements I style And I guarantee faithfully I will never go Until all is said and done In a twinkling I’ll be gone Well excuse me I have so much more to do

Fancy I fell, A childlike tap I’ll steal Look twice my friend it’s not the wind at all

You’ll never see, What you refuse to be The power in the seeing is believing.

It’s not magic it’s not madness Just the elements I style And I guarantee faithfully I will never go Until all is said and done In a twinkling I’ll be gone Well excuse me I have so much more to do

It’s not magic it’s not madness Just the elements I style And I guarantee faithfully I will never go Until all is said and done In a twinkling I’ll be gone Well excuse me I have so much more to do

[Background] Flower Power, Power Flower, Flower Power, Power of Love Power Flower, Flower Power, Power Flower, Flower of Love

[repeat] He’s a power flower yeah, oh Protecting all the flowers, yeah, oh He’s a flower’s power, yeah Through earth, wind, fire, showers, yeah, oh, oh, oh, oh oh, oh, oh, oh

He’s a power flower yeah, oh Protecting all the flowers, yeah, oh

it’s both but,,..it’s the “blah, blah, blah” that’s most dangerous to man.

…. but since you bring it up, the actual black of the oil(in addition to it’s toxicity) is absorbing heat within natural areas that simply can’t take it. The destruction of the wetlands destroys the buffer between land and sea thereby increasing the negative effects of rising sea levels and more intense hurricanes. Indeed it is all connected but , that aside,… You’re talking about American citizens, natural American rescources (more beautiful than you can apparently imagine) under deadly assault from the toxic slop a mega British petroleum company. I am just curious, why would that not disturb a person more than a cartoon aknowledging that truth?

    no offense intended, but ?
