So, the corner of Maple and Elm? Leave it to Beaver or Dennis the Menace ? Chic kind of looks like Dennis Mitchell. Isn’t Maple and Elm where Eddie Haskell stashed that body? I wonder if officer Obie checked the storm drain?
Will the Doc and Holly make it safe? Or will there be a Nightmare on Elm Street? I can’t wait to find out. :pWhere is Wally and the rest? They don’t seem to be watching lately.
Well, Endtown itself is supposedly “a mile” underground, so I don’t know about a storm drain entrance, but its not like those pneumatic pods could just pop up in the middle of an alley. Had to be some way to get there before everything got dusted… Good luck Mr Fox, whoever you are, we hardly knew ye. ;-)
This may not be the entrance to Endtown, it could be like Albion West or one of the many other early communities before Endtown.Any secret organization or counter intelligence group will set up safe houses or way-stations to protect a place like Endtown. It is far safer and smarter to pre-screen your residents before one gets a chance to mess up your main operation.
I’m currently going through the printed editions of the Endtown books, and I’m re-reading the original Albert and Gustine story. From the perspective of the current events, what Neathery wrote then still connects perfectly with what I’m learning now.
The fox is spotted in the last panel. Looks like he’s going to need a doctor first, but Holly’s going to drag Doc away saying there’s nothing they can do for him.
I still think the Oracle is this world’s Duchess, in her old age. In spirit. Making sure Endtown fulfills her and Marx’s goal of being an ark without the animals eating each other. That’s what the mutant Marx may be doing, collecting animals for the ark.
Given that there are parallel worlds that mirror the past, there must be parallels that mirror the future. If the Oracle and Marx can observe the “past” parallels, then they must be able to observe the “future” parallels, too. They should be able to see what “futures” work better than others and use the greater, good ones as guides for this world.
The Marx we know may be immune to the virus, but the Marx from this reality apparently isn’t. I think I’m with the majority. The fox is this realities Marx.
I’m not entirely familiar with the rules that Aaron Marx operates under. Being a ditto whisperer allows him to perpetuate all kinds of illusions but he may be a shape shifter of some sort with the ability to change into different form. He may prefer the look of a tall goofy human but was willing to play an anthro mutant fox for this particular caper. Marx also may be planning to die but has enough understanding and control of the situation that he could come back as an adult in the form he chooses. In fact, he may have allowed himself to mutate into an anthro fox with the understanding that he could be killed and come back in a human form.
Darwinskeeper: I think it’s safe to say NONE of us understands the rules Marx operates under. Only the mind of Aaron Neathery knows what he might or might not do.
Marx doesn’t seem to obey any rules, including those of physics. He had the power to visit the afterlife and prepare Flask for her next incarnation. He may be able to bring himself back from the dead in a different carnation, too.
Point of order: remember, this is still something that’s being watched—-by Wally & Company, and possibly Holly—-so it’s unlikely that, if it’s an accurate representation of what happened, the people seen are actually the people who were. And that’s only if it is an accurate representation—-it might not be what happened, after all…
Maybe … on some level … Holly needed to share these memories with Wally, but either didn’t feel secure enough to feel Wally would still accept her, and might want to leave her forever, or Holly herself is still too damaged to watch the scenes she sees often in her dreams. She remembers on some level, if this happened. Or, maybe it is too painful to remember, and the Magic Lantern has to show Wally show so he can accept and help, or bail. Odds against one of the main characters dumping the other main character. Or this could be a diversion while Holly tries to finish an entire Wheel o’ Cheese, all by herself. MINE! ALL MINE! “Here, show Wally, Kirbee and Chic a movie…” while Holly devotes her entire attention to CHEESH! (and maybe a jeroboam or two of tequila).

Updated early. Thank you. The Fox is a hero and a martyr.

Agree about the early update. Thank you.
Is the storm drain the entrance to Endtown?

They never noticed the fox was wearing clothes that seemed to fit his “new” self.

When trying to lure machines that have heat sensors, it’s important to be the brightest star in their skies.

Sometimes the fox outruns the hounds, go fox. I hope Doc and Holly can remember those directions, they make no sense to me.

I fear my prediction about the fox’s fate may be about to come true.

So I guess we’re not gonna get to know this guy any better.

They probably want to arrest him for smoking in a non-smoking jacket. Also, don’t smoke. It could kill you.

Again with the “greater good” business. It sure hasn’t been too great so far… ;-)

This would be before Endtown was built. The storm drain leads to the safe place of the community that later builds Endtown.
Erwin Schwartz over 8 years ago
I’m reasonably certain that Endtown was prebuilt, the same as the Duchess is building its equivalent in her parallel reality.

I thought it was kinda obvious, but I’m positive that fox is actually Marx in disguise.

There goes a fellow who truly is crazy like a fox.

As he used the phrase “the greater good”, the fox is definitely Aaron Marx. I doubt he will be bumped off.
