Hmm. I read this a bit differently. To me this seemed a bit “smarmy” of Janis. To me, it read that she thinks Arlo is only being a “horndog” and her “an hour, a week” comment seemed to suggest her opinion is that sex is all Arlo thinks about. To me, there have been several occasions during the last several weeks that the comic seems atypically “mean”. What I am reading into the comic as “mean” is a type of dissatisfaction, distraction between Arlo and Janis…. and at least from my recollection as a long time reader, this has never been a focus before. I found yesterday to be similar. I am not sure what is up. It seems perhaps JJ is trying something new…. a more negative humor…. and to me it is a bit uncomfortable. At least, I guess, it is unlike what I tend to like and expect from Arlo & Janis.
And, since I didn’t comment about yesterday initially but mentioned it above…. for me, Janis’ disdainful look at Arlo seems to me to read as if she does not trust Arlo and is trying to “short leash” him when there has not ever been any sort of portrayal of Arlo being anything but faithful previously. “Blondie” IS the actual name of the comic strip, so the way Arlo referenced the sandwich was fine in my opinion… even though obviously he would have been better off calling it the “Dagwood”. But this sort of “jaundiced eye” look of Janis…. along with her previously thinking about her long-lost co-worker friend… plus a few other instances the last few weeks has me concerned that JJ is going to push us into some new (for A&J) “dramatic” situations that involve at least flirtations (pun intended) with infidelity. I hope it is not the case, however, for it would feel sad to me.

If he walked with her, he wouldn’t have to miss her or worry about her.
