I’m like Petey, but only because I have no other choice. I don’t have a pool, and currently, we are having a second tropical depression. Treasure those fun moments Alice.

Petey, you’re an experienced (comic book) author! You can write the words based on Alice’s verbal descriptions, and she can draw all the pictures. It will practically write itself!

hehe I was just going to ask, “Does Petey have Autism?” I just found on wiki " It has been speculated that Petey has a high-functioning form of autism, something that Thompson has neither confirmed or denied." I can deal with wet grass. Wet grass CLIPPINGS are another story entirely.

When our local grandson was a “creeper” he’d stay on a blanket forever. He hated the feeling of grass on his skin. And putting a piece of tape on his arm made him gag. Fortunately, unlike Petey, he outgrew it.

This isn’t so bad. His reaction to the fireworks in yesterday’s strip was just sad. Then again, maybe he and Alice help keep each other sane, or close enough.

I love the balance of the figures in this strip. Not just their personalities, though that is balanced too. Alice and the sprinkler, and then in the last panel where she kneels beside Petey’s bed asking for help. Richard Thompson is a master.

Does Mr. Otterloop actually have all three kinds of sprinkler running simultaneously on his little lawn?! Or is Alice cavorting about the neighborhood in her swimsuit? Or is she just recalling having seen each of the three types at different times and in different places? One needs to know in order to formulate a proper response to today’s strip (as Petey might say)!
