Woman: Melissa, did you pick up anything from your stay at the restoration center that's been helpful? Melissa: Well, yeah. The classes were actually pretty good... helped me with my nightmares... and gave me skills for managing my stress. They do work. Sometimes. Woman: Sometimes? What's your fallback position? Melissa: You. God. Woman: Really? Great! We weren't fishing.

My favorite stress relief in the service involved skeet shooting with a M60 machine gun.

Mel doesn’t have an easy road, but she knows when things aren’t working and knows how to ask for help. She’ll be fine.

The chaplain sure has the best lines.

I’m waiting for Neolib to express impatience with today’s ironical display of religious faith. So far the only comments have missed the irony (for example, “She’ll be fine”). What’s the difference between Sarah Palin talking about God in this comic strip and Mel and the Chaplain doing it?

@Neocon— The sad truth is, that the chaplain has deflected the truth of God in panel 4 by minimizing God’s part in Mellisa’s well-being, “WE weren’t fishing”. God doesn’t fish, he merely provides the Grace to overcome difficulty but the chaplain is taking more credit than she deserves. This is how I see it. Others may differ. God bless you if you do. I also could be wrong.

Possibly, Neocon, because Palin only pays lip-service to religion. If you put her on trial for being a Christian there wouldn’t be enough evidence to convict

Neocon: There is a difference between an individual speaking with her pastor and a public figure claiming, despite public evidence, her actions are in accord with her professed faith.
