To Gwen, emotional intelligence means sitting back and letting someone take credit for your report and saying nothing. That’s not intelligence of any kind, that’s being a wimp.
I don’t know about a wimp — sometimes, it’s best to know what fights to pick — that is, which ones you can win and which ones you can’t. She should have been more cautious with Gwen and not given her the whole report to review, mentioned to her boss that she’d given the report to Gwen to review, etc.
What’s really sad here is that Betty has no women friends who aren’t basically jerks. She needs to get a life. And this strip needs writers with a really good sense of self esteem who don’t feel threatened by women who like and respect each other.
