Fans + air conditioning means you can keep the thermostat higher.
I like sleeping with my windows open in the summer. I live near a small pond. Between the frogs, crickets and whatever else goes screech in the night, it sounds like a jungle. It puts me to sleep almost instantly.
While in the Air Force I would take those foamy earplugs and put them inside the cage of those fans. They’d bounce around making one heck of a clatter.

Don’t even think about window fans. Not made since room size air conditioners took over.
