I compiled this list of GoComics members who chose a Frog Applause cartoon for their profile page. A cartoon is selected after someone clicks on the star on the bottom right hand side of a comic. I’ve been trying to think of a way to cheer up Teresa. While looking for super fans, I couldn’t help noticing that several fans haven’t left a comment in YEARS. Could it be that the disappearance of the blog and the mysterious hiatus of FA, angered or drove some fans away for good? I also noticed that some people are currently and actively commenting on this site, but no longer comment on FA. And they were regulars at one time. My goal was to make you smile, Teresa. I hope I didn’t make you sad instead with my assumptions about some of your former fans.
Why did some names link to a FA cartoon and others did not?I also noticed that when I pasted my links in, the ending is missing, even though I copied it with that bit of code. I apologize, Teresa. I wanted my list to look nice for you.
This is because we have only the Atari 2600 eight directional joystick. It was chosen because the value of the joystick position may be easily encoded in an eight-bit value. But on the plus side, it only needs four switches and the circuitry required is very, very simple, with one line in carrying a voltage, one ground, and one out for each switch controlled by the joystick. There is another line for the fire button, of course, but that’s another story entirely. And we won’t get into the paddles, since that has nothing to do with the intricacies of why we are inherently unable to move boldly in any of the secondary inter-cardinal directions.Or it could be because of that Alfred Hitchcock movie.
I seem to have an innate sense of direction. I’m seldom lost for more that a few minutes. My wife, on the other hand, has no sense of direction at all. Why do some people have it and some people not? Please… one of you smart folks ’splain that to me.
It’s been over five years since I’ve commented here. I also feel bad about continuing to follow the strip without at least commenting once in a while. I hope Teresa doesn’t think that fans like me abandoned her, even though it pretty much looks that way.
but what about the children? do they know about the eight secondary intercardinal directions? can they even read those words? or recite them? Oh, my. So many challenges.
I agree with you to a point, but Teresa had to have guessed that she’d lose a lot of her readership when she stopped blogging. That said, she shouldn’t be frustrated by her lower subscriber numbers (which mean nothing, imo). She still has one of the top tier strips in terms of comments. I’d be happier about the number of people who leave comments every day instead of focusing on a meaningless number. Who cares how many people subscribe? Look at how many people stop by DAY AFTER DAY and leave a trail of delicious bread crumbs on your FA page. Be happy, Teresa.
“Where are all the answers you promised?”-What were the questions? I’m not being funny here, I just came home from Sunday service. My humor resumes tomorrow.
I’m guessing that the artists are paid depending on how many people click on their comics, not on how many comments they receive. If that’s true, then Teresa is right to worry about a reduction in the number of readers.
Sorry, but it’s past 9 PM EDT, And I must get some sleep so I can earn my living tomorrow. So again, leave your questions here before midnight or post them first thing in the AM (after your comments about the cartoon) and I’ll answer before I head off to work!
@meh~tdology. Happy’s sense of relevance must be contagious. What a perfect accompaniment for today’s FA. I love this place and you smart and funny people.Thank you, Teresa, for bringing this lame bunch of knuckleheads together with your creation.
I’m not sure if GoComics just randomly rotates comics under the home page heading “Today’s Popular”, but I saw Frog Applause at the top of that list a few minutes ago.
