No original art this time. But here’s a link to a few of my thoughts about Noel Neill…which also leads to a longer article about a dinner I had with her back in 2009.
Well, for what it’s worth, Noel really enjoyed this comic when I first published it years ago. (As did Jimmy Olsen actor Jack Larson.) And it’s one of the reasons Noel and I met and later had dinner. Go to my website if you want to know more about that and read a somewhat more traditional tribute.
If you’re going to play a continuing role in a show like the TV version of Superman, you’d better have a sense of humor about the whole scenario. However, that in no way means that you don’t take your job, and your acting performances, seriously. I’m glad to hear that she had the right attitude. Thanks for reprinting this as a salute.
I watched Superman with Reeves and Neill when I was a kid. Didn’t know Noel was still around until I heard of her passing. She always suspected Clark as being Superman.
And amazingly, in a relatively recent interview (I didn’t get the date), Miss Neill said that in playing Lois Lane, she was just being herself. RIP, “Miss Lane.”
Just discovered tour strip. Marvelous! As for the art on the Loon-Oldson strip, panels 1 and 2 look very much like Matt Baker. Panel 3, though, particularly Jimminy’s profile, looks like the work of Bob Powell. Odd. Any other guesses?
