“Honeysuckle Rose” is a 1929 song composed by Fats Waller with lyrics by Andy Razaf. It was introduced in the 1929 Off-Broadway revue “Load of Coal” at Connie’s Inn as a soft-shoe dance number.
With all the access to cultural history by way of old movies and radio stations carrying old songs (although admittedly not as old as Honeysuckle Rose), old recordings, and on and on, I just don’t get the “it was before my time.”

That’s “Mack the Knife” by Bobby Darin. Won the Grammy for “Record of the Year” in 1959

These girls are about 15 or 16, right? Their grandparents are probably in their 60’s and grew up on rock and roll.
