Went for a twelve-mile hike in the Cascades yesterday. The mountains, lakes, and trees weren’t imaginary, and they were the only motivation needed.

Am well over the hill and have never engaged in any online games such as Pokemon Go. However I do not understand the antipathy that many seem to have toward PG. At least it gets the little bleeders off their fundaments and moving around outside. Have had many good interactions with players on occasion.

As someone who loves to play video games & has been a gamer for a long time, I’m very disgusted by some of the comments on here. i’m fine if something like this doesn’t interest you.

Personally, The bad rap Pokémon GO gets is pretty much because of people ignoring the warning to pay attention, I mean, The game even tells you to pay attention for gods sake!

nrhawkI am not a fan of D&D, but that is because of a world that is a poor rip-off of Tolkien and rules that rely on arbitrary edict rather than logic and the laws of physics. However, the “no life” charge is hardly viable. A few living (Vin Diesel, Ben Affleck) and recently dead (Robin Williams) not only play table-top, face-to-face role-playing games, but those three played in the same game together. All three have claimed the game important in understanding the character they are playing on-screen. Not exactly “adults without a life”..In my own game development, I have had high school students tell how the games have brought up grades from C to A, as well a encouraging recreational reading and independent learning.

Speaking of fads of the past — who here remembers POGS?

I am 50+ and I play Pokemon Go. I have fun challenging my kids (all are adults, two team red, two team blue). I have found that it has encouraged me to double if not triple the amount I walk each day, for that alone, the game has been worth it. I stay aware of my surroundings, and try to step off to the side if I’m going to stop to do something. The problem is not with the game, it’s with people.

I guess I’m more confused by the contempt displayed for a bunch of kids (and some adults) playing a game outside, in fresh air, and I personally haven’t really seen any of them disturbing anyone else….I guess some might have been trespassing, but around here it has been nice to go for a walk at night and see the park full of kids having innocent fun.

And Pokemon Go won’t be going away. What will go away is the media attention as the fad players get tired of it and move on to the next media inspired fad.

That means those of us who love the game will have less attention and more server time.

2018 and pokemon go is still a thing.
