Mulching up the leaves works great if you don’t have a lot of leaves and if they are not oak leaves. We have several large oak trees and their leaves don’t crumble—-they turn to leather and take years to biodegrade. Even in pieces. They have to be removed or they kill whatever they pile up on.

I grind my leaves up with the lawn mower. They biodegrade and make natural fertilizer for the following year.
