Not so sure I am comfortable with Grandma sitting there reading the paper. Even if she didn’t know Agnes was in the box for the last two hours, it would be a lot less neglectful if she were working on letting Agnes out. Yes it’s a comic, not real life, but if we can draw inspiration from one character in the strip, we can also be disappointed in the character of others in the same strip. (What’s good for the goose is good for the Grandma, sort of thing).
Being put in a box with no airholes is NOT a good way to play. When I was young, kids were getting in old refrigerators that could not be opened from the inside. We had fewer kids around as a result — and don’t tell me it was all unintentional.
I bet my younger brother, about 10 at the time, that he couldn’t fit into a rabbit cage (minus the rabbit). My memory is hazy, but it might have been about 15" tall and a yard square. He fit and I put the bike lock on. I don’t know if he has forgiven me yet . . . (only about 40 yrs ago). At least he had no problem breathing and plenty of grass to eat – the floor of the cage was wire as well.

One thing I love about Agnes is her resolute faith in herself.
If someone can do it, has ever done it, promises to do it…Agnes truly believes that she can do it to.
Faith in oneself is a wonderful, precious thing….though occasionally, scissors and bolt-cutters might be useful too.

Agnes, even Houdini practiced a lot before getting in the box. SusanSunshine – you are so right about Agnes. That’s why we love her.

Every one talks about over-population, but only a few actually do something about it…
