The only purpose of the hyoid bone is so on CSI the doctor can tell us when the victim has been strangled.

The Hyoid bone is actually one of three, the other two being the kneecaps. They are attached to ligaments which are attached to the thigh and shin, and we couldn’t bend our knees without them, but they are not connected to bones themselves. I learned that from Knee and Sports injury Doctor who treated my Mom’s broken kneecap.

    The kneecaps are called patellas.
