I wonder if Rickard is going to do a “Magnetar” gag… (for those who don’t know, “Magnetar” is the name of a collapsing neutron star that gives out a huge burst of magnetic energy as it dies, and also the name of an investment-banking firm that made tons of money by in effect constructing terrible investments and then betting they’d fail).

A clear example of failed Buckynomics. Next he’ll bail out FannieMars and FreddieMars for financing igloos on Mars.

Scarily accurate. Submachine: you need to realize that it was the conservative republican insistence on removing government regulation of the financial markets that caused the banks to get “too big to fail” and also insured that they would fail due to their unbridled greed.

The guy screaming “IIIIEEEE!” was actually trying to pronounce, in the time he had left, the name of the world-killing machine: “AIG!”
