didn’t Calvin have some similar thought that missing school counts if you get sick at summer vacation?

NO big surprise.

Comedian Mark Lowry says his Dad used to say “You’re not sick unless you throw up, let’s go to church.” and when he actually would throw up, “There, now don’t you feel better? Let’s go to church.”

One time in high school my English class had a long-term substitute, Mrs. Haas. For some reason, she didn’t like me and my friend Alicia. Near the end of the school year, Alicia was very sick and was out for almost a month. The Sunday before she was to go back to school her mother let her get some sun reclining on a lawn chair. Now, Alicia is one of those people blessed with being able to tan with very little light, so she came back that Monday nice and tanned. Mrs. Haas actually accused her of skipping! She wouldn’t take my word for it (I was the one who brought her homework to her) but had the office call her parents.

If the strip were set in Japan or England, he would still be playing sick. On Saturday in those places school is open.

Probably a “24 hour virus”

That reason enough

They should see the physician to be sure.

Don’t forget; healthy kids bounce back much quicker than adults. He probably really is better.
