My father told this story… He was flying P-39’s from Guadalcanal when his unit commander got the bright idea of practicing bombing by having the pilots roll down their window (P-39 had doors like a car) and throw a paper sack of flour at targets painted on top base buildings. Each pilot had their own color.
Dad chucked one at the target on top the infirmary. It sailed through the door just as someone opened it coming out.
I had an invite to their opening because they were using some of my PM scans to illustrate the Disney studio strike, but I couldn’t travel a couple of thousand miles to get to it. Some day, I expect I’ll pay to get in. Maybe the stuff will still be up.
How dare Alice decry the marksmanship of Dill’s brothers’ trebuchets! What does she know about medieval weaponry loaded with sacks of flour?!—Just kidding. Nice dream, Dill; too bad it got shot down….

End of bombing practice.

How good is that trebuchet? Maybe they should enter it into the “Punkin’ Chunkin” contest this year.
