Rat: I think a person's political affiliation is based on what they fear. Republicans fear chaos. Democrats fear order.
Goat: I fear stupidity, so I stay home and cry.
Rat: There should be a party for that.
Goat: Sad people don't have parties.

Back in time a wise man said something to the effect that all we had to fear was fear itself…………..and the beat goes on :-)

We need more sad people….

The Democrats don not like imposing order on criminals out of professional courtesy, but the love imposing endless rules upon the law abiding. How does a party that truly fears order make it illegal to not have health insurance? The Dems are OCD about these things.

Republicans want to regulate your personal life. Democrats want to regulate corporations.

I think that Rat is misunderstanding or incorrectly defining chaos and order. The chaos the republicans fear is individual freedom. Freedom to live one’s life as one sees fit, love who they love, marry who they love, care for one’s body the way one sees fit and many other freedoms that the republicans wish to curtail. The “order” the Democrats fear is the republicans’ ides of order, do EXACTLY as we say because we say. Don’t pay attention to what we do, just do as we say. Life according to the American Taliban ideology (yeah I went there) is not order it is oppression. THAT is what Democrats fear...Pastis really whiffed it on this one.

We recently “celebrated” the 4020th birthday of the earth according to Archbishop James Ussher, who in the 17th century calculated that it began at 6pm Saturday October 23, 4004 BC. There are many millions of people who believe this to be factual as well as the story of the first woman springing fully formed from the rib of a man, the apple being eaten that is the cause of original sin and so forth. My question is, can we have a a democracy which requires voters capable of critical thinking and rationality when so many, almost half, cannot distinguish between fact and fantasy?

Sounds good. Let’s make a moderate party, free of Trump’s fear-mongering and hate, and Hillary’s corruption and bureaucratic nonsense.

A person with an overwhelming fear of stupidity would have to become a total recluse.

Goat’s wrong. The Republicans are going to be a very sad bunch. Their own doing, but sad anyway. Got to be the ultimate buyer’s remorse.

What does it all matter, after the coming nuclear holocaust? The only question is, who will toss the first nuclear missile? And just how soon? Will the next presidency last a full term, or will we all be incinerated before the next election cycle is completed?

Pastis is wrong. Both parties fear ciaos, just in differant ways. Republiucans fear the “Ciaos” that will be made by a strong federal government. Democrats fear… Democrats want a strong federal government that will help people who need it. I’m not sure what they fear. Also, I’m not sure rat is a republican so much as he is a right wing commentary on the ridiculousness of the american electoral system.
william.keisler about 6 years ago
Obviously Pastis isn’t really correct for either party, but thats not the point. Hes saying something about each party so he doesn’t lose a quarter of his viewers that can’t stand that the writer has a different view than them

I’m actually more afraid of smart people. The mistakes stupid people make are relatively easy to solve. The mistakes smart people make tend to result in mass destruction.
