Good, those things make noise pollution, air pollution and just push around the leaves, not picking them up.

I leave the leaves where they lie, less labor lost

I raked leaves as a kid, made a huge pile, threw some gasoline on it, waited and then threw a lit match….the fumes had accumulated, and it exploded! I had to rake some of those leaves again after I put out the fire.

Something that won’t “crank” is an apt metaphor for our society. Thanks Jimmy J.

raking / mulching / mowing leaves is a drag.when i bought this house in the country, i thought all the trees were perfect.little thought i gave to this time of year.now i rake / mulch and mow at least eight times before the last leaf falls.yes, my lawn must look clean.

Our leaves go on the garden . I like raking myself. We don’t have a lot of trees but the ones we have put down a lot of leaves. and acorns for the ducks..

We have slightly over two acres. Leave blowers may cause noise pollution and air pollution, but if they are going to be picked up before spring, the leaf blower it is. Hubby often uses the snow blade on the mower – which is also noisy and stinky.

I grind up the leaves with the lawn mower. They biodegrade into natural fertilizer for the lawn and the tree roots.

Some leaf blowers also suck the leaves in and grind them up for composting. They’re not all bad.

I miss the beautiful foliage and the cool, crisp air of autumn. Down here, the weather never changes. It just goes from hot to not as hot.

Someone a mile from me who lives in a house surrounded by large trees is obsessed with growing grass in what is essentially a forest setting. He has a big leaf vacuum towed behind his riding mower. I’m mining his huge stockpile of leaves from past years to spread on my gardens and mix with grass clippings. I have gotten two pickup loads so far, and there are at least ten more, before this year’s harvest.

That’s why I own battery-operated lawn equipment. Mower, trimmer, blower and hedge trimmer.
