WHO is the girl in P1 with the pony tail an 60’s style GO-GO boots? The boys at the table seem to not notice her. How can no one see Nancy Sinatra walk by?
The name WAMPUS CATS is a bit stupid. I would of gone with TIGER-CATS or something. Or the School LEESVILLE I would of named it the LEES before that name.
You guys need to read more folk lore. A wampus cat is a fearsome creature. It walks upright like a human but has the body of a large cat. They’ve been known to steal animals and children. Not anything you want to meet in the woods on a moonless night.
Some of you guys need to do more research and stop trying to get the Comment of the Week on the Curmudgeon.
Besides, the Wampus Cat was a Cherokee woman who was punished by a medicine man for spying on her husband’s hunting trips. In Arkansas, it’s a six-legged cat because it’s supposed to be very fast.
Still it a stupid name and the whole idea of naming teams is to keep it simple, catchy and traditional. Who gives a bleeep about some mythical six-legged cat who goes around devoring everything in it’s sight. My suggestion TIGER-CATS is simple, catchy and a football name. Not Wampus Cat.

Rubin and Whigham take school names from around the country. The Leesville Louisiana Wampus Cats play in District 3AAAA.

There used to be a lot of “Bug Eaters”. Then someone came up with face masks, darn.

In P1, the cafeteria floor looks great. Luhmster has the magic touch. P3, The Ghost isn’t very shifty running with his head down.

Boots are in this year-and that’s what the $80 helped finance-pony tail picked up extra thrill by walking by the mark.

Itasca High School here in Texas is also the Wampus Cats.

I think Dan Jenkins used the Itasca Wampus Cats in one of his books.

$80 says Mr. Rubin is paying tribute to Mr. Jenkins in his own semi-tough sort of way.

Ahh, Leesville, and Ft. Polk LA. I spent 18 months of my youth in that swamp.

I think Cassie is a Wampus Cat.
