I read a horror tale years back where a guy kept seeing a hearse outside his window and the driver would say something in French. I don’t know French and this was before internet. So I kept reading. At the end, the gentleman is waiting for an elevator. It stops, the doors open, and it is fairly full. The elevator operator (this is an old story) says the French phrase the driver of the hearse said. It dawned on me, ROOM FOR ONE MORE!! The man declines and the elevator crashes! Spooky story and good enough to remember all these years.

This makes me think of the several times I’ve been around when an unsummoned elevator stops, opens up, and no one gets out or on.

There are also buildings with no floor designated with the number 13..If the elevator stops at 13, don’t get out.

Funny that the number 13 would consider to be a “bad” number considering how many 13 were involved in the formation of this nation.
.
13 colonies of course
13 stripes
13 stars on the flag
13 arrows in the left claw of the Eagle
and so on…
