In the summer of 1962 I was stationed in Korea…..with the 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division when them "Russki’s started erecting a certain wall…in Belrlin. And the song the Dj’s on AFKN played consistently was Larry Vernes rather racist “Please Mr. Custer”. We were all put on alert and at 3:00 am one morning the Chlnese 5th pulled their tanks accross the DMZ just to see if we were fulfilling our mission statement. Funny? Up to a point…. until we were issued live ammo to go with our M1s. Then it wasn’t.
