Hey this was our childhood before obsessive parenting became the vogue. Our parents kicked us out the door in the morning and didn’t expect us back before dinner. Sometimes we would break something but we survived and were braver for it.
…nrhawk, this was the BEST winter activity! I had some of the best rides the day I sprained my shoulder – that put the end to the tobogganing fun – for THAT day :)…as soon as it was healed, out again :)…
I used to read these in the Sunday paper and loved them. Now graphic novels are everywhere. My fourth grader can’t put them down. What are your thoughts?
So is a toboggan a sled when you live up north? Because it’s a hat or beanie down south. We live on the beach so the only white we see are the pasty winter Texans that come down to our coastal down during the winter months. It’s 85 degrees right now.
All the toboggans we sold in our stores had a rope that went up and down the side of the base and looped out at the front to use as a tow to pull the instrument of death back up the hill when everyone on board survived the previous attempts.
We sold quite a few over the years, and even had one at our home! As I recall, there were no reported injuries caused by their continued use…

Now invite Susie for some sledding and go straight into suicide. It’s the 26th, so all the good behavior stuff is over, isn’t it?

Amazing how we went from death by toboggan to death by mosquitos in just a few comments!
This bugs me…
