Trump’s promises will likely go the same way that anyone else’s promises would have. Any political campaign involves candidates saying lots of things, some of which are (nice word) inoperative.
I’ve always enjoyed the old song (by Tom Paxton, I think):I believe, I do. I believe I do./ I believe exactly what they tell me to. /I believe, I do. I believe it’s true./ I’m a simple guy. I believe.

As opposed to the blessed ones.

9. Make the auto industry in Michigan “bigger and better and stronger than ever before.” Trump plans to return to the state each time a new factory or auto plant opens.

That is a shame. I was liking how they had it in Alabama and Georgia.

10. Bring the coal industry back to life in the Appalachian Mountain region.

That would be a shame. Nuclear is much more environmentally friendly. Using liquid metal reactors, we can convert all current waste into fuel enough to power our current society for a thousand years or so.

11. Require employers to recruit “from the unemployment office — not the immigration office.”

A friend of mine was unemployed and had to apply for jobs in order to get his funding. He was quickly hired and worked until disabled recently. Actively encouraging employment is a good thing.
A dhg-related proposal involves a 10% surtax on employment of non-citizens (legal status unimportant, a totally separate question).
If Americans won’t do the work, open it to others.
If employers can get it done 10% cheaper by employing Americans, that should encourage them.
To avoid cheating, advertise and offer a Rat Reward of 10% for collection of unreported taxes so anyone paid under the table can rat out any cheaters and collect the taxes otherwise not paid.
This would also encourage employers to be very careful regarding the citizenship - or lack thereof - of employees since the surtax will hit them whether they knew or not.
