The problem is that it would tell all the people, who voted for Trump, that they have no stake in the system – their choices aren’t respected and their voices wouldn’t be listened to. Sure, Trump is bad, but many people voted for him exactly, because they thought, the “washington elites” are ignoring them.

I figured out how to live with this atrocity for the next four years. I figured out how my mute button works. Course I still have to close my eyes or switch the channel to avoid nightmares.

Check out the Hamilton Electors: citing Federalist 68 (written by Hamilton and quoted in this comic), they are a group of (so far) 7 Democratic Electors who have pledged to support a ‘Reasonable Republican’ if Republican Electors will join them and pick one. If enough Republican Electors do so, then this would throw the election to the House, where hopefully they would choose the Reasonable Republican.

“Reasonable Republicans”? Huh? WTF? Let us know when they’re found. (Yawn!)

Tom the bug has “original” correct, and it was to keep out “Brits” and other outsiders, as well as idiots away from power, granted the white, male, land-owning aristocracy had the power.

Tumolt and disorder ARE the prime objectives of Trump and his supporters/appointees, and it’s back to the billionaire aristocracy, tax freed of course, who will treat the common man the same as in Hamilton’s day, serfs, slaves, and indentured, to them!

Oddly enough, SchoolHouse Rock did create a video explaining the Electoral College for their DVD collection.

All persons are created equal. We are all equal in the eyes of the law. Love thy neighbor as thyself. The French revolution.

Hamilton was an elitist and Burr gave him what he deserved.

I like how it was rigged a month ago but now it’s all fine and dandy.

So far, seven “faithless electors” have stepped up to announce what everyone already knows—that Scumpelthinskin is unfit to hold the office of the President of the United States. Scumpelthinskin’s lost the popular vote (and thus his mandate), he’s dropping electors, the rest of the world (excluding his fellow thugs, including the Russian who pulls his strings) wonders how we let it come to this, and he’s desperately trying to prevent investigations into fraud, which he still insists was real……but Libby still savors the flavor of the heel of his boot.

IF the game wasn’t rigged how can you explain that BILL CLINTON is a member of the electoral college??

A Republican has now defected! Christopher Suprun of Texas will vote for John Kasich, and the Hamilton Electors (now 8 strong, still all Democrats) will probably join him. (So if Suprun is not technically a Hamilton Elector, he may as well be.) This could be the break in the dam!

… Probably not, but hey, this has been a weird election.
