I leave my outdoor lights up all year. It causes less damage than the take down and put up. Much easier replacing burnt out bulbs than running whole strings.

In the 70’s I met a young couple whose entire house was decorated for Christmas year ‘round. It had been the happiest time of their childhoods, so they lived it every day. A few years later, I heard he had committed suicide because of the huge debt he owed to his drug dealer. Moral: Some people can’t handle fantasy.

and he is correct about the stores getting ready for Xmas earlier every year. With the vast majority of their profits coming during xmas season, its no wonder they want to make it last longer.Only complaint I have is starting the store xmas music earlier every year. They usually have a short playlist, so the store employees must be driven round the bend after hearing the same xmas carols for the 100th time in a week.

First, it is still the Christmas season until January 6, on Epiphany. At that point you can add the wise men to your Nativity Scene.Second, stores aren’t going to put up the Christmas stuff after Easter because if they did so they would have no place to put their summer stuff. Or the Halloween stuff. Department stores have an area which is for “seasonal” items. The reason the Christmas stuff goes up as soon as the Halloween is over at the end of October is because there is no other big holiday until Christmas. If they don’t put up the Christmas stuff, they have a big empty place in their store. As soon as one holiday is done, the stuff for the next one goes in, no matter how far away it is.
