Mike; Say, J.J., what time is it? J.J.: 8:45. Mike: 8:45? Okay, that means it's 2:45, London time. J.J.: So? Mike: So by now, Zonker has probably led the Lords in a resounding repudiation of Thatcherism. Zonker: Ding Dong! The witch is dead!

It’s actually, 1:45 pm in London if it’s 8:45 am in New York; 5 hour time difference between NYC and London.

When Thatcher died, that song sold really well and entered the British charts, where the BBC promptly banned it; not that we have censorship in the UK (oh!, wait a minute we clearly do).
Thatcher taught me how to hate. When she died there was a fear she would be buried at sea which would have made it difficult to build the dancehall over her grave.
A very divisive figure; one of the very few genuine psychopaths to have become PM. Less racist, but more nasty than Churchill.

Well….. How about Cromwell?

So I interviewed for a job as a lifeguard recently. While discussing swimming ability, I was asked, “What’s your favorite stroke?” I guess “The one that killed Maggie Thatcher” wasn’t the answer they were looking for.

I have the peculiar feeling that when Hilary’s time comes, this song will be a hit all over again. Call it a hunch, if you will…

Years ago, I saw my friend, the late John Colicos, portray Churchill, in the original production of the one man play, Churchill.
.
This was performed only a couple or three years after Churchill’s death in 1965, and created quite a furor when it opened, because it showed Winnie as he really was, and not the hero he wanted the world to believe he was.
.
My mother and family were ( and are ) from County Armagh, in the North of Ireland. Like @leftwingpatriot, Churchill was roundly hated in my family, for what he did in Northern Ireland.
.
I blame Harold Wilson for exacerbating the Troubles in Northern Ireland in 1969, but I can never forgive Thatcher for her bloody mindedness, bigotry, and economic destructive policies that destroyed the working and middle classes in the U.K.

I was never impressed with thatcher. I saw her as a best bud of Reagan. Ronnie was in her squad, as the kids say.

It will be interesting to see how future generations view our current prez. I can’t imagine Reagan would have approved of Russian spies, though I am not a Reagan fan. Obama chose yesterday to seek revenge against the Russian meddling of the election through their cyber attacks. Trump likes to hang with the Russians so who knows what will happen in their relationship. If they had access to the democrats they may also have access to the republicans and there may be some blackmail involved with the Russians and trump.

When Thatcher died, Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle tweeted that he’d be brushing off his black suit and shining his dancing shoes.

“Many of us danced when Maggie’s BBF Reagan died.”

Of course you did.
There is hatred in your heart.
I loved Reagan.
There is no hatred in my heart.

“My husband’s family refused the $ that Reagan had proposed as an apology by the US government years later, saying they considered it “blood money.” "
.
It was blood money, money offered in recognition we had sinned.
Reagan was a great man.
.
“Blood money, also called bloodwit, is money or some sort of compensation paid by an offender (usually a murderer) or his/her family group to the family or kin group of the victim.”

We all make mistakes. I find it quite the challenge to type or edit using these small mobile devices. Otoh, they are nice and portable.

Just in case this isn’t one of them, I’m holding off on the latter to avoid the expense.
