Norman: Mom, about those cookies you just baked... Are they for us or did you bake them for someone else?
June: They're for you!
Norman: Just checking!
Penny: 'Cause we already ate seven of 'em!
Patrick: Shh!
Three people eating 7 cookies isn’t so bad. I remember baking cookies frequently when I was in high school and my 6 brothers would eat the as fast as I baked them (yes, of course, I got my fair share too). Sometimes, they were eating them FASTER than I baked them. After baking about 4 pans full of them once. all I had to show for it was about a half dozen cookies – fewer than I was putting on each cookie sheet. Of course, once we all had our fill of the cookies (my mom and dad ate some), I had enough left for the cookie jar so we could get them in our school lunches (or whenever we wanted to eat them).
My dad was the oldest of four boys. His mother used to bake six loaves of bread at a time, and one day the boys took a knife and cut both ends and the tops off all six loaves. She nearly killed them. Cut like that, the bread dries out really fast and this was during the depression, LONG before plastic wrap, aluminum foil or plastic bags!
