Although it is still 10 hours to go for me, I wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Mr. Carrion and The Octopus are enemies of The Spirit.

An all important meeting of the forces of light and darkness to clash in Tracytown. I see blood in the streets.

In addition to “Daddy” Warbucks, we see the return of Terry & The Pirates character Hotshot Charlie.

The $64,000 question is, Who’s Hotshot Charlie ferrying into town …?!

Pretty sure that, during the original run of the strip, The Octopus never made a full on-camera appearance, so his true face remained shrouded in mystery.

Hotshot Charlie might be flying in another character from ‘The Spirit,’ though there’s also a slim outside chance that his passenger could be ‘The Dragon Lady.’

Mike & Joe – In theory – Have access to any Tribune Syndicate characters from days past they’d care to employ.

They really don’t bring Mary Perkins On-Stage often enough.

Crossover City, happening tonight, right before our eyes.

I remember a Spirit story with Carrion. His shtick was to swindle money from desperate relatives of missing people. He put up a great act of feigning sympathy, though I would have thought having a pet vulture would have put them off. I wonder if he still has it.

Maybe the “Madame” is Madame Fatal, the only crossdressing crimebuster created for the comics.

“Madame” suggests a French-speaking woman.

Maybe it’s the Dragon Lady, but it would be cool if Hotshot Charlie was ferrying P’Gell (who is French). And this is not a story for little boys.

I wonder if Fearless Fosdick will show up?

Well! Daddy Warbucks and Hotshot Charlie! This is certainly a welcome surprise.

I still have no idea where this is going, but I’m certainly interested.

Okay, so the mayor mentioned an “event” and Spirit referred to the “Flammel matter”. How about this? Perenelle is offering to provide the “Elixir of Life” that has given her immortality in exchange for – what? I could see Warbucks, Dragon Lady and Octopus all being interested in that!

More than ever, I think Mr. Am will also be making an appearance.

Its an All-Star cast!!

This will be enjoyable! From our talk of Terry and the Pirates I’m enthralled by the ideas of these characters coming to the strip. I still need to read the Spirit however.

I wonder if there are more to come.

Now that I’ve been reminded that our pilot friend in the 2nd panel is from TERRY & THE PIRATES, it’s a guess that the off-panel “Madame” is either the Dragon Lady in her more politically correct identity of Madame Deal, or the controversial early LGBT villain Sanjak, alias Madame Sud.

It has been noted that the Octopus is never shown… the readers see only a hand, like when we were first introduced to Mr. Bigg.

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if the Octopus turned out to be Mr. Bribery?

What the devil is happening in town?!

Daddy Warbucks (and chances are he is not without his entourage, the Asp and/or Punjab); Hotshot Charlie (T. Lee’s buddy) ferrying in “Madame,” possibly the Dragon Lady; Octopus and Mr. Carrion; the Spirit, Sammy, and Commissioner Dolan; Perenelle Flammel; maybe Moon Governor; plus the Tracyville regulars; and we’re not even yet officially 2017!

As somebody possibly relevant once said, Leapin’ Lizards!

And if we’re resurrecting favorite Tribune Syndicate comics characters, I could sure savor me some Hipshot Percussion (to give Blackjack a run for his money when it comes to shooting straight)….

Mucho mas bad guys. But with the Spirit, Daddy Warbucks [with the gasp Asp?] and Hotshot Charlie [ the George Wunder not the Milton Caniff version] to help, Tracy should clean their clocks. heh-heh,
