Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for July 31, 1973
Transcript:
Lawyer: Ladies and gentlemen. I hope you will forgive this most bothersome formality of jury duty. Fortunately, the sordid case of Mr. Zonker Harris, as you shall shortly see, is a pretty simple affair. As prosecuting attorney, I shall prove to you beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the defendant is guilty of twenty-two counts of possession of marijuana, dealing in illegal drugs, and resisting arrest! We should have you out of here in no time.

Well, that explains a lot, context wise. Question is, where’s this comic? (Good to know Zonker isn’t still sitting in jail, tho.)
