Bub, you can have both! I’ve got an old pickup truck that’s lifted with big tires – emphasis on “old”, because I treat it like an old truck. When I want to go hunting in a certain place and the road’s only three feet wide, I’m going in anyway, paint be damned. The nice thing about “old” is I don’t have to care. It’s in top shape mechanically but aesthetically it looks like, well, like it’s been driven down several three foot wide roads. As for the sports car, I bought my midlife crisis machine two years ago, a 2015 Mustang GT. Needless to say I care a little more about the paint on that one. And the old truck is used as a daily driver in winter so the Mustang never sees snow or salt.

It’s not snide. The “tricked out” part is the showy, immature side. Get a truck you can put a mower or a shovel or a can of gas or some lumber or…
