Senator: General, in your opinion, does the presence of the Soviet brigade present a legitimate threat to the security of this country? Man: Senator Baker, I'd be less than candid if I denied it. My personal evaluation is that these 3,000 Russian shock troops could be easily deployed to spearhead a massive amphibious assault against the coastlines of Florida, Alabama and some parts of Mississippi. Having established these beachheads, the Soviets would then be free to fan out across the South, disrupting traffic, and effectively crippling the tourist industry so vital to the economy of the region. Senator: My God! Think of the jobs! Man: Yes, sir. And that's only one scenario.
