Humans’ attitude these days

When you want a place with a little green and place to rest, you must sit down in the cemetery!!

It is sad when the “secret places” and other childhood haunts you used to enjoy are gone. No more looking for frogs, toads, salamanders, and turtles. No more hideouts from pirates and assorted bad guys. No forts, snow or otherwise.

I think selling off all the public lands to developers and shutting down the EPA will handle this problem pretty well. I wonder when gummint will think of those things? ……………….. Oh, never mind.

The elephant in the room is population growth. More people, people who want bigger and bigger living space, is really a bad idea.

Unless you can convince everyone to stop having babies, it is inevitable. When was the last time the world population went DOWN? Oh yeah – never.

Oh how I despise bulldozers. Have watched this decimation of nature and wildlife habitat in horror throughout my life. Calvin really hit home with me on this, thank you.

Once you are alive and become cognizant or mortality you have just a few years to do something fulfilling and maybe useful to the whole world.

We didn’t inherit the earth, we are borrowing it from our grand children.

This thread has hit on exactly what my career was about preserving, a natural world that can maintain life on Earth, but yes, rational development does have to happen also. We do need to limit our destruction and consumption, it’s called planning and conservation. Calvin isn’t one for “politics”, but as bad as James Watt was, Trump’s entire cabinet and appointees, and policies, is all about the privatization and DESTRUCTION of the environment we, all plants and animals, depend on, not just humans. The devil is in the details, and the total nut is in the White House, ready to give it all away. Depressing and not good, Hobbes understates the problem ignorance has created.

I appreciate the sentiment of this strip, but wherever Calvin and his family live, work, go to school, shop, recreate, etc., was once wilderness, too. Development should certainly not be left unchecked, but…civilization happens.

What year is today’s strip? If it’s after 1994 then it’s too late for me as well because that’s the year I was born.

All those 60+ people out there. Being young is bad too!

It’s hard to be patriotic about a country that doesn’t take good care of the environment.

We’ve already tried not to inherit it. That’s why we’re in this mess!
