Second man from left: Unfortunately, a background check showed you're actually qualified for the cabinet post, so we'll have to pass.
Caption: The government vetting process.
I remember having a hard time finding work during my College years. I tried getting a grunt job at a supermarket, and they said I was overqualified. Well, if the people working there were any barometer, maybe they needed more overqualified people!
I like the tap right there on the table…That’s cuttin’ to the chase, baby!..BTW, I’m getting the impression that Wiley is less than enamored with Number 45, and this one isn’t even political…Um, technically……..Oh, the usual suspects won’t like it, and will complain that Miller should be on the editorial page . But screw ‘em! I like Wiley just fine the way he is, thank you…….An artist without heart and soul is useless to me…It’s not good to be opinionated, of course, but if you haven’t thought enough about things to even have an opinion, what good are you….? And if you don’t express your Self in your art, it’s just lame art…unlike Wiley who is sharp as a tack…I admire Wiley a lot. He gets to be both just plain silly and satirical , usually at the same time…Gotta love him, eh?
I used to apply for jobs – library oriented of course – and during the interview I would realise that they didn’t know what sort of person, what qualifications, were needed for the job. They were just pumping me – “So what do you think this job entails” sort of question. What I also rapidly realised was that whoever got the job, it wasn’t going to be me. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!
You know those people you meet on the internet who are totally ignorant, but think they’re experts because they read a blog post? Our Government is now being run by those people.
I think that cabinet members should undergo the same vetting as refugees: be checked out by the U.N., CIA, Homeland Security, FBI, Department of Immigration and Naturalization and then take and pass a citizenship test.
A little different from the last administration. The vetting process then started and ended with the question “are you up on Karl Marx and Neville Chamberlain?” If the answer was yes you were “in like Flynn.” Today I suspect they want to know if you are up on Adam Smith and Von Clausewitz."
I don’t know, until recently we’ve had some extremely qualified people in those positions. Even a Nobel Prize winning Physicist and an award winning Nuclear physicist for Secretary of Energy. Rich Perry has a Bachelors in Animal Husbandry and was on Dances with the Stars. You’ve got to be a rube to think he’s as qualified as his predecessors.
Apparently, with the Trump administration, being an old white guy that said nice things about you, or nothing about you at all puts you high on the list. Seems to help to hate the department you are suppose to represent and the people they were developed to protect. That is the American People and workers, not the Corporations with the most lobbyists.
Not to mention, but I’m going to anyway, the difference whether you are asked to resign or just plan fired. Try to protect the American People, You’re Fired! Try to protect Putin, hate to ask you this, but I think now would be a good time for you to resign…
People
who refuse to see the differences in the parties and their governing, will doom ‘us’ to vote to make them the all the same.
Wiley has long shown understanding of how things “really work”, and injects a little humor that we who’ve known the “system” for decades can laugh with, even though sometimes with a tear in our eye. I’ve worked through, and with, many administrations, good, bad, and marginal. This one is going to bring a lot more tears than chuckles, every day. Keep trying Wiley, we need you.

Interestingly to me, only the readers assign political values on this cartoon. When the truth of it is, that it applies to either side of the aisle.

The only president we’ve ever had who was honest, trustworthy, and all the rest was Ford – and he didn’t get re-elected. Or even elected.

Love how it’s a bunch of male fatcats rejecting a woman.

I see the republicans haven’t figured out why they will lose big in two years.

The only qualification they’re interested in is millions of dollars in campaign contributions. Right, Betsy Devos?

Puzder withdrew his nomination for labor secretary. I’m claiming credit for that with this cartoon!
