So many futuristic science fiction references from my youth are now in the past. In remember when “1984” was the future. Then there was Space:1999, 2001: A Space Odyssey, etc.
Rat – you are lousy at math. If it had been released in 1999, it would be 18 years old. As it is, the song was released in 1982. Thirty five years old, baby.
Getting old…I guess it’s a Sign O’ The Times. Just be sure to invite The Beautiful Ones; you might get lucky and get to Kiss one of them! And don’t party too hard – you might cause a Housequake! It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night!
Ink falling from the sky, / And pigs, they don’t fly. / The studio’s not so bright. / We’re past deadline tonight. / The syndicate, it dies / Whenever a cartoonist cries. / (When he cries)
Small fun fact: 1999 was the year when Stephan first submitted Pearls Before Swine to some syndicates, and United Media liked it and signed him in. Another fun fact: I was born on that year. So yeah, party like it’s 1999!

Why Party like it’s 1999 when the Amish can party like it’s 1699…. after they finish all of their chores and finish thine.

I miss 1999. I was 11 years old, didn’t have a care in the world, and was messing around with my SNES

Uh, Rat? Might want to check your math in Panel 3. 1999 was 18 years ago, not 17.

Actually the party song I remember was titled Splish Splash, and 30 years ago doesn’t sound like much.
