I hate pennies just as much as the next guy. But I really hate Canada’s Loonies and Twonies. Glad I don’t have to fill my pockets with them anymore. I’m sure they’re thinking of a replacement for all paper money.

Once a year I turn in my pennies and use the money to go out to eat and see a movie! I earned it.

a penny used to be good money in ’60’s….all the stores had penny candy…candy bars were 5 pennies…comic books were 10 pennies…freaked me out when they went up to 12 pennies

but Herrweh is correct…it now costs govt. $2million to coin $1million of pennies

OAKIE817, perhaps the Government should contract it out. Big Business knows how to cut costs and turn a profit while Government knows how to ramp up costs and go further into debt.

Till you need to pay sales tax , and it comes out to be 6 cents . Better to have that penny or you gain 4 more . If you pay cash .

But watch how many people swarm to the gas station that offers gas a penny less than the competition , to put gas in their car . Smart thing to do . Pennies add up . Nice to roll them when others have given me the free money .
