I know the routine. It is just that my computer is across the next room from the TV. Most of what I “watch” while working is mainly talking heads that could be on radio – in fact, one daily is still simulcast.
Take the batteries out and swap the slots. You’ll get another day outta those puppies.
I didn’t think of that. What I do is open the battery location and rotate both batteries around with my thumb, basically just “renewing” the connections on the ends of the batteries. It works.
Oh my god my husband does this all the damn time. I don’t even say anything anymore I just walk over pluck it out of his hand change them and then walk away to throw the old ones out. And with our 5 remotes he wonders why I don’t bother using the TV much. (by the way I am a tech nerd and I built my own computer out of parts I bought for those who roll thier eyes at the woman not knowing how to use the remotes. I know how I just find it dumb that we have not figured out how to have everything not need to to switched and buttons set for everything we do now a days…we have self driving cars, why is audio and video input still needing to be set up each time you want to use the blu ray player?)

If you are close enough to the TV to use the buttons it’s time to change the batteries in the remote.

Just the opposite in my house. Husband wants to change them, wife wants to get all the power out of the batteries. Same with a tube of toothpaste.
