In the 37’s, the French Teens Magazine (Le Journal Spirou) was publishing DT in French, until Nov 21st, 1940. The arc of the doctor who use his grand son to test a vaccine for the sleep disease.
Except for the origin story, did the Spirit ever mention his real name in Eisner’s comic? If so, I don’t recall it. The first story is the only one where the name Denny Colt is mention, and the only one where he’s seen without the mask.
OK, I had first heard of the Spirit back from reading Spirit Casebook: True Haunted Houses and Ghosts. But I’ve never really read any of his comics, nor knew he had an alias.
Considering all the times that your family has been kidnapped, as well as what happened to the original Mysta, you may want to consider the alias strategy yourself, Tracy.
Denny Colt and Dick Tracy: live long and flourish!
While the rest of this week could be taken up in further exposition and winding up loose ends of this story, by next week a new story should have begun, unless there is a short interlude, as sometimes may happen, not really relating either to this arc or to the next….
……….this could be tied up very easily, of course, in one panel; by news that Perenelle disappeared without a trace from the morgue. It would also set her up to return later, as she was a most interesting character. The same with Abner; one panel showing him alive somewhere. Or indisputably dead this time. That is my one and ONLY problem, but it’s been with most of the stories here, they start out great, with total mystery and engaging plot, have superb artwork; but it seems once that is done, too much of a rush to get to the next great plot without giving enough closure to the current one…..

Very nice. Of course this might be Tracy’s next line: “But you still can’t date my daughter.” LOL!!!

As Bonnie was saying before the dinner party, he usually doesn’t care for costumed crime fighters.
I’m trying to get my recap done for tomorrow night, but this is definitely the strangest story I’ve ever tried to diagram.

It looks like there will be no more explanation from Tracy. Still too many loose ends…

Yep, I’m afraid we’re backed out of this one.

Speculation Time …
Who will be next year’s guest star?
Maybe someone more ambitious than me should gather nominations and set up a poll?
A Few Early Suggestions …
- Modesty Blaise
- The Phantom and/or Mandrake (… special permission from King Features Syndicate would be required.)
- Nexus (… via a Honeymoon dream sequence.)
- Doc Savage and/or The Shadow
- A Real-Life Celebrity of some sort
- A Literary Detective of some sort

What would be great would be to see Will Eisner’s SPIRIT become a feature here. It sure deserves to.

Parting is such sweet sorrow.
But true friendship is forever.

Denny Colt—that’s my real name. I only give it out to friends…. and to patrons of my franchised, faux-retro diners.
