    A fedora-ful? Oldies week?

So is this problem kinda old hat?

BTW … the arithmetic is so easy I don’t really see any need for such a cute and evasive answer.

C’mon, Caulfield….. you can just solve it with your hands behind your back and your brain closed.

    Is it a fedora-ful?

Depends on the fedora, I guess…

but I’ll just keep that under my hat.

At 5 cents each, that would be 8 apples for 40 cents. You would already know this if you had read the replies above.

For me, this was easier than the problem last week. Eight apples and Frazz gave the answer indirectly (as previously mentioned). I have forgotten how these words problems are written to obfuscate a relatively simple calculation.

40 cents may buy one apple today, if buying individually.

Looking at my Fedora, I think I could fit 8 apples in it, so Caufield’s answer is not entirely incorrect.

What kind of apples? Granny Smith’s? Red Delicious? Inquiring minds need to know.

That’s a very “Calvinist” answer, young man.

I dunno. Do they tax food where Caulfield lives?

40 cents will buy 2 and ⅔ Schtroumpfs (Smurfs in the USA)

The interesting question is “Why do we buy apples by the pound when we eat them by the piece?” I know the answer, but I’ll leave it to you to figure it out.
