Kumara is the Peruvian name for the purple sweet potato and is in common usage here, where I live, to distinguish it from the Camote – the common sweet potato

Orange-fleshed sweet potatoes contain more beta-carotene, which your body can turn into vitamin A. The purple varieties contain the most antioxidants.
