Comic strip writer/artists love to pick on old cliche sayings like this. And to be honest, many of them have bothered be for quite some time. But then I realized that many of them come from someplace and some-time that is not where I am and that probably had different weather conditions, and that they most certainly have a heavy dose of observation bias.

We’ve had rain almost every day in April. I can tell it’s spring, though, because the weeds are popping up in the yard. Yay, Spring!

“April showers.” Yeah, right, it hasn’t hinted at a drizzle here for 2 months and probably won’t rain again until October…

In April don’t take a stitch off, in May do as you like. (translation from the French)

We in Houston have had heavy rains recently. Highs are now in the 80’s and it is still cooler by nearly 20 degrees for a little while longer.

It’s rained here twice since spring.
…once for thirty days, and once for forty days.

It is pretty cool artwork. Wonder how he does it? Does he lightly sketch in the figures, then mark in the streaks of rain?
