Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for July 17, 2009
Transcript:
Zonker: "Hi, guys. Do you ever have days when you can't get your message out? Tom from Boston." Mike: Do we ever, Tom! For instance, today is the birthday of Bubbles, Michael Jackson's chimp. It will dominate the media, suck up all the oxygen! The rest of us might as well have stayed home! In fact, there's really no point in finishing up today's strip! Zonker: There isn't? Mike: Dummy dialogue goes here and there.

Hey Garry, ever heard of Brain Fade? You might want to ask your doctor about it.

milano99 Ever hear of BrainFarts? Usually referencing when one can’t think of a word, name, etc. I’m thinking it’s the appropriate “smell” right after your comment about Garry!

i almost hate to say it, (let the flaming commence) but my first thought on seeing reports about Michael Jackson’s death was that poor Farrah had been upstaged. and sure enough, almost all references to her passing disappeared very quickly in favour of the orgy of Michael Jackson “news” reports.

Candorville ran a thread where the Iran protests were upstaged by jacko, although at the end of the jacko thread he drew a memorable ending. He rode a mystic train with jacko and when jacko got off, his hair got caught in the doors. As the train pulled away it yanked of his skin and guess what emerged? Little Mikey Jackson from the Jackson 5!

Don’t be too hard on GT ….. remember, the average intelligence of Americans is somewhat below quartz. They would rather watch big trucks running over old cars and pro football than actually learn anything about the world.
