I was wondering if the two things were connected somehow. It seemed so random. One minute, they’re celebrating successful robbery, the next they’re vandalising gravestones? We know now that the robbery was to cover debts. Could it be that the creditor is Jewish, and that triggered some anti-Semitism in Big Margie?
I like how they prioritize these crimes. Bribery is a super criminal with space flight capabilities and then there’s the $13k coscon duping that gets almost equal billing for resources. They better hope nobody robs the 7-11 til they solve one of these.
Every time I see Margie mentioned I think of Gale Storm. Am I the only one doing so?
I don’t think Big Margie was being Anti-Semitic, she was just being evil in general. The only person she likes is Little Margie.
We haven’t seen a gruesome ending for a villain in a while…I get the feeling Middle Margie will somehow kill Big Margie in this storyline. I sort of hope that it will be something along the lines of what happened to Jonah Hex in the classic “Last Jonah Hex Story”…I could see Middle Margie just somehow snapping and going all Spectre on Big (Google Jonah Hex and Spectre if you you don’t know what I’m talking about).
Too bad The Spirit is no longer in the story, he and cemeteries do get along (and Big Margie looks like a character that could have been created by Will Eisner…)
Anti-semitism and hate crimes are societal evils. To bring them into a story about a comic book costume convention seems really tasteless and clueless.
Chief Patton doesn’t know how well off Tracyville actually is, if the $10K convention heist is the Number Two priority of the elite Major Crimes Unit! Good grief! The town except for Mr. Bribery must be amazingly free of serious crime!
As for the character of Big Margie Legase, I go by the evidence. The evidence so far is that she is the mastermind of the cos con robbery and that she vandalizes a Jewish cemetery at midnight (maybe having done so before, if the two acts of vandalism mentioned in The Daily’s story are both her doing). My working conclusion is that she is anti-Semitic.
This reminds me a bit of the first years of “The Closer”. The Los Angeles-based show was originally about a police department team put together to handle “high-profile” cases, which had caused the LAPD embarrassed both in the show’s backstory and in real life (e.g. the OJ Simpson case). At some point, the storyline had the unit change to handle major crimes of all types, which continued into its spinoff “Major Crimes”.
All three of the cases here are “high profile” (the CosUCon likely had a lot of positive publicity before the robbery, and the vandalizing of the Jewish cemeteries appears to be a hate crime) .

So…
No. 1 Mr. Bribery (the haven’t been making much progress)
No. 2 The convention robber
Proposed No. 3 Cemetery hate crimes
Little do they know that #2 and #3 are the same case.

I guess that’s an eagle on the top of the flagstaff in the first frame? Pretty fancy!

That’s a pretty steep drop in dollar value, from international crime lord to local heist.

Even local heists are important to the city.

True, they don’t know 2 & 3 are related…yet. So Patton will get two for the price of one!

I think Chief Patton is really saying, “Tracy, time to get back to work.”

I don’t care what people may say, but there appears to be an increase in anti-Semitism since #45 got elected.
