Oh yeah, works so well with what he told Dirk. He surely won’t suspect anything if one tells him Toni will be there with broken leg and other will tell next day that she has moved away.

He never said anything about Toni still living there, “Broke a leg. Hasn’t been outta her place in a week…”. That leaves room for interpretation. Their plan is that she moved, then broke a leg, not vice versa.
