In reading the Wikipedia entry about balut, I can find no mention of whether the embryos are alive when they’re boiled. I’m assuming they are. That’s just wrong. No living creature should ever be boiled alive.
The fact that the Wiki article doesn’t even address the unimaginable suffering which the embryos must endure when plunged into the boiling water is testament to the extreme narcissism and callousness of our species.

Would you like a Cadillac car?
Or a guest-shot on Jack Parr?
How about a date with Hedy Lamarr…
You gonna git it.
“If you want it, baby.”
How’d ya like to be a big wheel?
Dining out, for every meal.
I’m the plant can make it all real.
You’re gonna git it.
Hey, I’m your Genie.
I’m your friend.
I’m your willin’ slave…
Take a chance, feed me, yeah.
You know the kinda eats,
The kinda ret-hot tastes,
The kinda sticky licky, sweets I crave…

Teresa! How could you put something as interesting as those “Dam Goat” pictures on the Blog and not give us any info? For shame!
The dam is evidently in Italy, and the goats are a form of Ibex (Capra Ibex?). Many videos at YouTube - here’s one:
