    I recall our getting our first modern washer (circa 1960). Mom didn’t trust it, and the old wringer washer remained next to the new one for many years.

    Wow what a blast from the past. My grandparents had one of those in the basement, right next to the triple sink!

    We ended up giving my parent’s old wringer washer (which still worked) to a local charity that fixed old appliances for resell when no one wanted it. (Mom hadn’t used it in at least thirty years. It was stored in the garage after she got a washer and dryer more common today.) They said they were just going to display it in their lobby and wouldn’t be selling it. Probably wouldn’t be able to. I can’t see a fifty-plus-year-old wringer washer as being collectible, nor a “modern” homemaker wanting to bother with the extra step of running it through the wringer.
