Maybe this is the reason why we have falling test scores for academic achievement even though spending is through the roof, we pay for free pre-school, and have smaller classes. In the early 60s, a small classroom was 30 kids, most went up to 40, and there was only 1 teacher to handle it all, no aides, assistants, etc. If the teacher recommended something to the parents, they usually implemented instead of complaining about what a poor teacher the person was who couldn’t appreciate the uniqueness of their darling, angel child. Classroom disruption was dealt with firmly, first in the classroom, and then at home.

Dr. Spock’s book I presume. I once saw a kid destroy a bank office and no one yelled. The bank employees couldn’t and the parent didn’t care!

In the old days it was discipline. Today it’s child abuse.

Funny, but this could explain the increasing entitlement of each generation
