I really doubt that Rome has a Statue of Benito Mussolini. I said it before and I’ll say it again: Mr. Marrin; Please don’t become the modern day Gary Trudeau.
Unfortunately President Trump does not seem to recollect what happened to either Julius Caesar or Benito. The US seems to be emulating the Roman Empire in that the recent candidates for the presidency have all been pandering to the masses with bread and circuses instead of addressing the issues facing the country, ably aided by the doofuses in Congress from both sides of the aisle.
TOO FUNNY! Tomcurda, of course there’s no statue of one of the top ten Ugliest Tyrants of Italy: THAT’S THE JOKE and its a good one. Marrin has been deftly dishing out this kind of commentary from the get-go and I’m a huge fan of that kind of educating humor. And I’m with Kaffekup: its all too close to a real potential Trump-ian mix-up!
I enjoyed it. The point of the cartoon isn’t simply a comparison between El Duce and the Orange Oaf; the Oaf not knowing whom the statue depicts displays quite accurately and humorously how much of a simpleton he is.
Any statue of Mussolini in Italy would be in Milan, and hanging up-side-down.
I am surprised Trump has not crowned himself “The Leader”. After all, Il Duce, Der Führer, El Caudillo. It is a long tradition of 20th century Leaders of which he is a part.

For a moment, it looked as if he got El Duce and Caesar confused.

I thought it was hilarious, because it’s so true and so topical.

It’s the thought that counts. Keep up the good work, Pat, “Francis” has become one of my favorites.
