Waitaminit! That ain’t Sue Doko, it’s her radical cousin Sue Shi! I knew there was something fishy here!
So Thick is going to arrest a man on suspicion of being D-cubed? And he still won’t come out and say he’s a cop?
Maybe he isn’t a cop! Come on, how did he pass the physical with that left arm of his?
And now, fed up with Thick’s behavior, one of the bystanders attempts to make a citizen’s arrest. And lookit the smile on Thick’s face! During the scuffle his wrist widget shorts out and–hey, Thick, they’re playing your song:
Panel-Panner, we’re on the same page, because when I saw the guy grabbing Thick I could have sworn he was Marty the Mutant from Roger Corman’s “Day The World Ended.” And it looks like it’s ending for Thick, too.
Now why does his admirer go “Aarrrgghh”? Did Thick sprout an extra hand at the base of his spine and go for the nuggets? Or … ah, well … Testicle Chin has shown up and shot him in the back.
Tomorrow Testicle Chin, Horn Hair and the Keystone Kops arrive, with enough firepower to level half the city. Guns drawn, they begin to arrest all the homeless guys. But what’s this? The guy who just dry-humped Thick–he’s got a badge! He’s Norbert the Narc, working undercover for the DEA! He was here first and he’s mad because Thick, operating on his own and failing to inform anyone of his activities, just fouled up a DEA sting!
But they can still arrest the other homeless–uh, oh! Mullet Head is Special Agent J. Edgar Orac of the FBI! He wants to know why Thick just upset a special FBI counter-intelligence operation! And Nipple Head is Maxwell Smart! Behind him, it’s Napoleon Solo! And that feline by the garbage cans ain’t Meow tse-Tung, it’s F. Frederick Skitty! The gang has been so thoroughly infiltrated that all of its members are undercover agents!
Except D-cubed. Thick looks around, sums up the situation, and arrests D-cubed for impersonating an undercover cop.
Flight Suit, when you consider the gay subtext which Locher has given this arc, that exclamation may signify an event that would give the netnanny a case of the vapors.
But it’s more likely that the other cops have arrived and shot Marty the Mutant in the back. Thick will be furious, because this rescue will deny him the chance to earn the Darwin Award he so richly deserves.
It would be insane to suggest that Sue Shi snuck up behind Marty the Mutant and hit him hard, forcing him to release Thick.
Locher calls this type of case a MYSTERY and his less articulate MIND that storyline is characterized mainly by ‘unexpected’ events, a style that points readers in one direction only to whip them around 180 degrees in the next
A review of the tale here will show the only technique at play is the ‘unexpected’, even if it contradicts an earlier ploy We won’t get anyting else, certainly not a ‘memorable’ Villain as that would give away the ‘surprise’ of who the bad guy is - as Locher builds himself a nest of ‘creative’ rest.
So story boards are no longer constructed with the conventional Tracy script of - CRIME - CHASE and CAPTURE. The way HE always saw Gould do it, and later working as a parter with Collins - again watched it succesfully at work keeping newspaper CIRCULATION (and their ‘incomes’) 8 times greater than it is now.
A good character ‘design’ artist of villains in the Gould mold when interested, ‘focused’ and mind ’off’ his Editorial Cartoons, yet he never properly grasped many of the other SKILLS of the trade. In the end patterning his own writing style after that of his weakest partner Mike Kilian The latter not familiar with earlier techniques, never used the CHASE sequence which allowed interesting action backdrops both in the city and out countryside as the Villain desperately tried to escape capture.
Flight Suit - no, even though Macy should be the one saying “AARRRGGHH!”, as it would in the normal world, Locher has it right for a change. The homeless guy strangling Macy from the behind got a little too close and felt a squish, with the ensuing aroma that commonly accompanies Macy in these type situations. Macy is using his patented “Skunk Defence”. Gets ‘em every time!
Going back to when this arc first started, what laws have 3D broken? On the other hand, what rules of procedure has Macy NOT BROKEN? I’m sure that Naperville’s Grand Jury groans every time Macy’s name is brought up and the DA is still waiting for his FIRST conviction on a case that Macy worked. All the rest were thrown out of court.
A real cop has come up behind Tracy and announced he’s arresting him! Also announced the old loony doesn’t mean anything to the real police any more. A very short cop … no, he’s crouched down in Panel 1. In Panel 3 he’s standing up straight.
Next we’ll have a chase scene as Tracy runs away – of course the cop has him in a stranglehold now, but I predict Tracy will break out of that and run away and we’ll have a prolonged chase scene. It could go on for weeks….
Exactly how long has it been since Tracy hasn’t had to be rescued while on one of his cases? The circus, the giant robot, and the Science Museum play all ended with a terrified Tracy running for his life until someone steps in to save him.
Thick won’t run away tomorrow. He’d like to, but every exit will be blocked by the cops who show up to rescue him.
D-cubed and Sue Shi have to escape, because if they don’t they’ll get arrested, and this arc will get so boring that even Locher couldn’t stand it. So we’ll get a week of various homeless guys telling us things we already know, along with muttering about some vague plan they were following, and another week while Thick fails to reveal his latest shocking deduction.
There is a bit of confusion here. You flag the spam, not the spammer, and that signals the admins to clean it up. Of course the spammer will be back tomorrow with a new username, but that’s the way of the world…. The admins are doing a good job of cleaning up spam almost as fast as it gets posted. Just flag the spam and otherwise ignore it.
Don’t expect any response from GoComics. I’ve emailed them several times over the past weeks with complaints/suggestions about the spammers, and have had zero replies.
All GoComics would have to do is add a bit of code that looks for a new account that immediately posts the same thing to, say, more than 30 threads, and automatically delete those posts and the account. But for some reason GoComics has no interest in doing so. Perhaps the spammers are actually paying GoComics advertising revenue?
Interesting, isn’t it, how Sue Shi is doing all the talking? Not a word from D-cubed, who you’d expect to be the take-charge type. How long will it take the Locher Mess Monster to give us a positive ID on this character?

Yeah, um, maybe you shoulda mentioned that in the first place. You coulda, you know, avoided tackling him.
But never mind. What are you charging him with?

Panel 3: The guy saying AARRRGGHH. Is that his nose in the middle of his face? Is he a mutant suffering from a weird anatomical mix-up from birth?

Speaking of mutants, panel 1: I didn’t realize that Thick’s arm was missing the upper half. The short arm of the law?

I enjoy a happy ending.

Same here, Panel-Panner, and you’d think that when Locher did his drawing he would have realized that Thick’s short arm wouldn’t pass inspection.
I can’t wait to see Thick’s convoluted explanation for this.

Shouldn’t it be Dick who’s exclaiming, “Aaaarrrrgghh?”
It seems more like something the attacked, rather than the attacker, would yell.

I think the reason the attacker is saying “AARRRGGHH” is that this was meant to run on Talk Like A Pirate Day.
