And isn’t it interesting how the Homeless People’s Revolutionary Army has not only released Thick, but has melted away, forgetting its enmity to Thick? And that only Sue Shi and one other individual remain with Thick? Will she now spend next week menacing him like the villain in a “Perils of Pauline” cliffhanger?
Some one commented the other day on the Phantom’s current story. Well, right now he seems to be as dumb as Dick Tracy. He’s come so close to finding Diana and looks like he’s going to overlook her. He should have known that as long as there is no body, there’s always hope that a missing person is alive. Diana’s mother is a dumb head too for not knowing her daughter when Diana escaped brefly and called her. Her mother seemed like she didn’t want to believe her daughter might still be alive. That story is really getting on my nerves!

I call the woman Sue Shi because by now Thick should have recognized her if she’s Sue Doko, and Sue Doko should have fingered Thick for who he is. Sue Shi might be the deranged activist responsible for everything from Butterfly McCorpse’s death to the morphing Police HQ sign, and has conned her old college friend Sue Doko into aiding and abbetting her nebulous plans. But that would make sense. Maybe next Saturday’s stunning revelation will be that Thick has recognized her all along.
Vista Bill, the other day we saw the Phantom out of his prison-guard uniform disguise. He seemed aware of Diana’s predicament. It’s strange how a man in purple tights and mask, running around the jungles and prisons of an African dictatorship, can seem more credible than a story about an undercover police detective.

Panel-Panner, the sad thing is that Locher has made the strip so bad that people joke about Tracy’s sexuality and sanity, and want to see him beaten to a pulp. I hope that whoever replaces Locher can salvage the strip.
Does TMS, or anyone, exercise any sort of editorial control over Locher? I’d hate to think that anyone would have looked at his plans for this delusional arc and approved them.
Sue Shi shouldn’t be homeless. As hot as she looks, she ought to be a thriving entrepreneur and supporting the others. Gotta give Locher credit where it’s due; he can draw a hot chick when he wants to.
Those are not thousand dollar bills, they are bricks! Think about it – if you throw a hail of thousand dollar bills at a crowd of homeless people, would that make them run away? Look at Panel 3. How many people do you count? Obviously the three are not throwing bricks at each other, so the bricks are being dropped from windows by people who are tired of all the noise the bums are making.
3D is running away from the hail of bricks. Tracy is following him. (He doesn’t mind the bricks so much – they all seem to be aimed at his head anyway….) That woman seems to have a hard head too. It is not clear why she is following 3D & Tracy. Maybe it’s just random – the bums ran off in all directions except Tracy went after 3D, and she just happens to be running in the same direction they are.
I predict it will turn out she thinks he won’t go far because a load of bricks is about to land on him. However, she is wrong – it is too soon to catch him. Although Tracy could catch up with him briefly before he turns around and starts chasing Tracy….
It all began at the start with a Coup De Bra when Locher exuberantly stole the ‘IDEA’ for Penny D’Buckworth from Gould’s 1957 Elsa Crystal …and indeed, all the others - Missing husband, Big money withdrawal from the Bank and a Street beggar.
Then Thick experienced a double Poop De Grâce - tricked with a singleton ‘Butterfly’ I.D. and dulling his nose with the Wherli questioning fiasco.
Then up ahead we’ll have the possible Coup De Grâce for this comic strip when we finally hear the rediculous MOTIVE for all this elaborate obfuscation and needles Street Masquerade
Really, a payment by one or two of those flying bills, in the right place, would would have done the trick !
When this climax hit the Editor’s desk Locher should have been ‘RELIEVED’ of his Tracy job immediately !
One more point, Sydney Phillips. Have you ever seen “Octopussy,” surely one of the lamest James Bond movies? It has a scene where the bad guys chase Roger Moore down a crowded street in New Delhi. To elude the villains, Moore tosses a double-handful of bills into the air and shouts “Rupees!” causing mass confusion that covers his escape. Purloining ideas is bad enough, but lifting bad ideas from garbage is worse.
And if that was the idea here, Locher forgot to show us the homeless guys going after the money.
Now what are the odds that Thick regains his cap tomorrow?
Did I miss a strip or ten? What in the World is going on here? I thought 3-D was trying to help Dick, now he just decided to make a run for it? Who is that woman and where did the homeless people go?
